Abstract :
We present the application of the magic-angle turning technique to 29Si solid-state NMR of natural abundance crystalline and amorphous solids. Correlations between the isotropic and anisotropic chemical shifts are obtained by rotation of the sample around a single axis at the magic angle. The technique is demonstrated for very slow rotation frequencies and is particularly suitable for the safe rotation of large samples containing radioactive materials.
