Abstract :
Van der Waals complexes of tetracene with several Ne atoms or water molecules (H2O, D2O) have been formed within cold (0.38 K) 4He droplets (1.5 × 104–1.8 × 104 atoms) and studied via laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The spectra reveal a series of sharp peaks (linewidth δν < 0.5 cm−1) which are attributed to band origins of different van der Waals complexes of the tetracene molecule with several attached atoms or molecules. The results are compared with earlier LIF studies of tetracene–Arn in He droplets and in free jet expansions. Spectra obtained with different order of pick up have also been measured.
