Abstract :
New green-emitting phosphors, Eu2+-activated Ca10(Si2O7)3Cl2 were synthesized at 1273 K for 3 h by conventional solid-state reactions under reductive atmosphere and systematically investigated by means of photoluminescence excitation, diffuse reflectance and emission spectroscopies, concentration quenching process, temperature dependence of luminescence and lifetime. These results show that Ca10(Si2O7)3Cl2:Eu2+ can be efficiently excited by the incident lights of 280–420 nm, perfectly matching with the emissions wavelength of near-UV LEDs. What is more, Ca10(Si2O7)3Cl2:Eu2+ has a higher quenching temperature beyond 450 K. It can be expected that Ca10(Si2O7)3Cl2:Eu2+ is a promising green phosphor candidate for creating white light in phosphor-converted white LEDs.
