A kinetic, morphological and mechanistic approach of the fluorination of multiwall carbon nanotubes

A comparative study of the fluorination of MWNTs batches of different origin has been performed. Both the addition kinetics and structural organisation of the fluorinated derivatives correlate with the rate of defects initially present in the carbonaceous precursor. These experimental observations lay the foundations for a tentative mechanistic approach of the fluorination process of MWNTs.
