Abstract :
La0.46Eu0.21Ca0.33MnO3 CMR system was prepared through standard solid state reaction method and characterized using XRD, electrical and magnetic transport measurements to understand the nature of metal-insulator and magnetic transitions in the material. 151Eu Mössbauer spectroscopic studies in the temperature range of 18–300 K were carried out in transmission geometry using 151Sm source. A narrow room temperature Mössbauer line with the isomer shift of 0.5 mm/s indicates that Eu replaces the La ion in the lattice with 3+ oxidation state. The temperature dependent evolution of magnetic nature is observed through drastic increase in the width of the spectrum around magnetic transition temperature. Non-Debye variation of Lamb–Mössbauer factor indicates the possible local structural variation around the phase transition boundaries.
