Abstract
An ab initio molecular treatment of the charge transfer process in collision of C2+ ions with the isoelectronic CO and N2 targets has been performed. The corresponding rate coefficients in the 400–50 000 K temperature range are compared to recent measurements of Gao and Kwong at Tequiv = 1.17 × 104 K. A global satisfactory agreement is observed and some general behaviour may be deduced.
