Abstract
The β-substituted halogen and hydroxy alkoxy radicals are important intermediates in the atmospheric chemistry of alkenes while hydroxy substituted alkoxy radicals are key intermediates in the combustion of alcohols. The FCH2CH2O radical is an example of these radicals. Jet-cooled excitation spectra of the B ∼ - X ∼ transition of FCH2CH2O were obtained using laser induced fluorescence and were assigned to two different conformers of FCH2CH2O with G(±60°) and T(180°) orientations of the OCCF dihedral angle. Rotational and vibronic analyses were performed to obtain rotational constants for both the X ∼ and B ∼ states and origin and vibrational frequencies of the B ∼ state.
