Abstract :
Dense single-crystalline V2O5 sheets with thicknesses of 50–100 nm were grown on aluminum foils by the physical vapor transport method. Most nanometer-thick V2O5 sheets have a pentagonal shape, with the (0 0 1) main surface surrounded by the (1 0 0), (3 1 ¯ 0), ( 3 ¯ 1 ¯ 0), and (0 1 0) side surfaces. We demonstrated the electrochemical operation of the nanometer-thick V2O5 sheets grown on an aluminum foil as a positive electrode material in lithium-ion batteries.
