Abstract
The electrochemical oxidation of ascorbic acid (L-AA) in aqueous and mixed aqueous-organic solutions containing sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) was studied using the cyclic voltammetry (CV) with a glassy carbon electrode. The SDS solutions were prepared in different background electrolytes: citric buffer pH 2, acetate buffer pH 4 and NH3 buffer pH 11 in order to determine the influence of pH on the L-AA electrochemical parameters. The measurements were performed in the aqueous buffered solutions and in those containing the organic solvent:acetonitrile ACN (2:3) or ethanol EtOH (1:1). On the basis of the obtained results the effects of pH, surfactant micelles and organic additives on the oxidation reaction kinetics were discussed.
