Abstract :
The amount of genetically modified RoundUp Ready™ soya in admixture samples was determined using a method, quantitation using informative zeros that employs most probable number statistics to estimate molecule numbers. By measuring the numbers of lectin, acting as a reference marker, and GMO-specific targets within these samples, we were able to determine their GMO contents. Estimates derived from QUIZ were comparable with results obtained using conventional real-time Taqman® PCR. Results of GMO content determination using QUIZ is based on a ‘per genome’ units and estimations can be obtained using very small amounts of DNA. Certified reference materials, constructed using weight measurements, were not required for quantification.
