Abstract
Two new mononuclear Cu(II) compounds with the ligand 2,2′-bipyridine-1,1′-dioxide (bpdo), have been synthesized and structurally characterized. The synthesis and spectroscopic measurements of two mononuclear compounds, cis-[Cu(bpdo)2(ClO4)(H2O)](ClO4) (1) and [Cu(bpdo)3]3(ClO4)6(H2O)4 (2) which were obtained by different synthetic methods is presented. Compound (1) has a unique [CuO4OwOClO4] chromophore, while compound (2) has a [CuO6] chromophore.
