Abstract :
Two new μ-phenoxo/μ-carboxylato-bridged trinuclear nickel(II) complexes,[Ni3(HL1)2(μ2-1,3-CH3CO2)2(urea)2](CH3OH)2 (1) and [Ni3(HL2)2(μ2-1,3-HCO2)2(dmf)2](dmf)2 (2) (H3L1 = 1,3-bis(salicylideneamino)-2-propanol), H3L2 = 1,3-bis(5-Br-salicylideneamino)-2-propanol) were prepared and characterized. The X-ray structures analysis of 1 and 2 revealed that three Ni(II) atoms are symmetrically linked by μ-phenoxo/μ-carboxylato bridges to form linear trinuclear complexes. The temperature dependence of magnetic susceptibility measurements show that complexes 1 and 2 have a weak antiferromagnetically coupling. Fit as linear three nuclear arrangement gave parameters of J = −1.70 cm−1, g = 2.09, and D = 1.84 cm−1 for 1 and J = −2.78 cm−1, g = 2.01 and D = 3.61 cm−1 for 2 respectively.
