Abstract :
A dinuclear cadmium(II) supramolecular complex containing a 9,10-anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonate chromophore was synthesized hydrothermally by using a mononuclear metal–organic synthon Cd(phen)2(NO3)2, 1, where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline. The compound was characterized by microanalysis, IR spectrum, thermogramic analysis and X-ray crystallography. The crystal structure exhibits a novel dinuclear supramolecular architecture based on Cd(phen)2 bridged with 9,10-anthraquinone-2,6-disulfonate (ads). Both intra and intermolecular hydrogen bonds contribute to extend the dinuclear assay to a two-dimensional (2D) network. Photoluminescence property has been measured in the solid state at ambient temperature.
