Abstract :
High temperature Raman and luminescence spectroscopies were used for studying the reconstruction processes in overheated melts and vapors of alkali and alkali-earth borates and boric oxide up to 1800 K. New boron–oxygen fragments in form of the monomeric [BO2]1−-anions were determined to be present in the overheated metaborates melts. Luminescence spectra of the BO2-radicals were measured in vapors over overheated borate melts at the selective laser excitation. These spectra were shown to differ from those of the BO2-radicals produced by the flash photolysis. An effect temperature and atmosphere sort on the BO2-radicals formation in the vapor state were studied.
