Abstract :
The career of Prof. Ralph N. Adams spans the evolution of electroanalytical chemistry from an academic curiosity based on polarography to a widely used tool with important applications across the chemical disciplines, from environmental science to neuropharmacology, and from heterogeneous catalysis to battery electrodes for cellular telephones. Adams catalyzed the careers of his students, many of whom presented him with academic grandchildren. His influence continues to be substantial. In this brief account, the highlights of Adamsʹ career are presented.
