Excess volumes of some halogenated aromatics+methyl methylthiomethyl sulfoxide, +dimethyl sulfoxide at 298.15 K

Excess molar volumes of methyl methylthiomethyl sulfoxide (MMTSO)+monohalogenated aromatic compounds (fluorobenzene, chlorobenzene, bromobenzene, 4-fluorotoluene and 4-chlorotoluene) have been measured at 298.15 K over the whole range of mole fractions. Those of the halogenated aromatic compounds+dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) have also been determined for the reference systems. All mixtures show volume contraction except for bromobenzene and 4-fluorotoluene+DMSO. The volume contractions of MMTSO systems on mixing are larger than those of corresponding DMSO systems. The correlation between limiting excess partial molar volume and limiting excess partial molar enthalpies are given.
