Adsorption from ternary liquid mixtures on silica gel of different mesoporosity

The competition of liquid components for silica gel surface was tested for ternary mixtures containing acetone or n-pentanol and binary solvent benzene+n-heptane of equimolar composition. Adsorption isotherms from the liquid phase were measured on a series of silica gels of different mesoporosity. The dependence of the composition of the surface phase on the porosity of silica gel is demonstrated and discussed.
