Abstract :
Three aspects of the storage of methane in structure H hydrate were investigated: (1) four-phase (LW–H–V–LHC) pressure–temperature equilibrium data are reported for 1,3-dimethylcyclohexane, a new structure H hydrate former, (2) in comparison with other hydrate structures it was shown that methane storage in sH hydrate is an attractive alternative if the large cage of sH is occupied with a large guest while the small cages are occupied by methane, and (3) polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was found to promote the amount of hydrate formation.
