Field trials of HPC for PC dome of NPR Kaiga

High performance concrete (HPC) of grade M60 was used for the construction of the primary (inner) containment dome (PCdome) of Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) at Kaiga. The paper presents detailed information on various field trials conducted to evaluate different parameters such as mixing of HPCingredients, cooling techniques, slump retention and pumpability, preparation of construction joints, etc. The curing methods adopted for the PC dome are also described.
