Agricultural Production Trends and Cropping Pattern in Uttar Pradesh: An Overview

Agriculture is the major livelihood activity of majority of rural population in Uttar Pradesh. Sustained growth in agricultural production and productivity is essential for over all sustainability of the state economy. It is, therefore necessary to study the status of agriculture in Uttar Pradesh. This paper deals with cropping pattern and production trends of agriculture in Uttar Pradesh in seven sections:-I- Introduction, II- growth Rate in Plan Periods, III- Land Use, IV-Cropping Pattern/Coverage, V- Production of different crops in Uttar Pradesh and All India, VI- Productivity of Different Crops and lastly concluded in section VII.
