Abstract :
This study compared five thought control strategies (distraction, self-punishment, anxiety, social control and reassess) among students with constructive problem solving, and counterproductive problem solving. For this purpose, 285 male and female high school students were examined according to Morgans sampling table. The data collection tool used was Wells and Davies questionnaire control of thoughts and Cassidy and Longs problem-solving Questionnaire. For data analysis software spss19 and independent t test and stepwise regression were used. The results showed that there were significant differences between the two groups of students in terms of thought control strategies of the concerns, self-punishment, and reassess, but in terms of distraction strategies, and social control, there was no significant difference. The results of stepwise regression showed thought control strategies related to reassess and concerns, can explain 56 percent of the students are solving problems.
