Abstract :
The purpose of the study was to assess the fundamentals and policies models of formal and public curriculum in Iran. This study was a descriptive survey. The study population consisted of Iranian professors of Curricula. Since this study involves the voluntary participation of experts in the process of data collection, from study population, based on purposive sampling, 35 experts were invited to participate. The instrument used in this study was Principles and patterns of curriculum policy-making questionnaire (a = 0.81).Indicator of central tendency was used to analyze the data. For the inferential analysis of data, one-way ANOVA and Turkey test were used. The results show that in the Iranian education system, the curriculum is more focused on political and religious grounds, but religious Foundations significantly dominate over other Foundations in the curriculum. Also, general and rule-oriented policy model, than other models of curriculum policy, significantly is dominant. These findings, although indicate a fairly balanced and coherent curriculum in the education system of Iran, but these balances cannot be considered as equivalent to performance.
