Abstract
In this study zero-pressure-based GE–EOS mixing rules are developed and a new approach is proposed for the prediction of phase equilibria in asymmetric systems. Vapor–liquid equilibria for 65 binary and 5 ternary asymmetric systems are calculated using the SRK equation of state with the new model, LCVM, PRSK and Wong–Sandler mixing rules coupled with the modified UNIFAC model. Calculated equilibrium pressures and mole fractions in the vapor phase are compared with experimental data. The average absolute percentage deviation indicates that the error involved in the application of the new model is less than for other mixing rules in most cases.
