Abstract
The problem of equilibrium of a stiff hose filled with an ideal incompressible liquid and acted upon by an external air or liquid flow is considered. The displacements of the axial points of the hose under the action of the aero- and hydrodynamic forces, as well as the angles of rotation of the axes attached to the hose, are assumed to be large. Accordingly, the equilibrium of the hose is described by nonlinear equations. Closed-form expressions are derived for the aerohydrodynamic forces in the most general case of an arbitrary angle between the flow velocity and the unit vector tangent to the axis of the hose. Numerical results of determining the stress-strain state of the hose are presented for several values of the magnitude of the flow velocity vector and directions of this vector with respect to the Cartesian axes.
