Gaseous detectors for synchrotron radiation applications in medical radiology

Gaseous detectors for medical radiology in combination with synchrotron radiation are used for coronary angiography with intravenous application of the contrast agent. The method is explained, the detectors used are presented and the parameters determining their design are discussed. The detective quantum efficiency, the balance between spatial and contrast resolution and the choice between counting and integrating detectors are considered. Finally cardiac images of diagnostic quality are shown.
