Fission assay tomography

The determination of the number of nuclear warheads deployed on a missile delivery system is important for verification of present and future arms control treaties. A system has been developed which makes use of the γ-ray time-of-flight to image and count the number of nuclear warheads on a missile. The main advantages of the present system is that it is non-intrusive and will not reveal sensitive design information. In addition it can be used with limited operational impact on the missile system.
