Abstract :
We achieved about a 20% nuclear polarization of 139La in a Nd3+:LaAlO3 crystal, which enables us to test the time reversal invariance in low-energy neutron reactions. We have found that thermal contact between the 139La nuclear spin system and the Nd3+ spin-spin interaction system played an essential role in obtaining a large 139La polarization.
