Abstract :
The paper presents a critical analysis of the generally accepted theory of the FEL oscillator with a tapered undulator. It is shown that it is incorrect in its basic assumptions. As a result, we obtain the situation when theoretical predictions do not agree with experimental results. In this paper we present some novel results of a correct theory.
