Abstract :
Due to the large bandgap of diamond, it is transparent to the visible spectrum, making it an attractive material for soft x-ray detection. Response of diamond photoconductive detectors fabricated using polycrystalline chemical-vapor-deposited (CVD) diamond to soft x-rays has been measured using x-rays emitted from a laser-produced plasma source in the spectral range 125 إ to 240 إ. These detectors have interdigitated electrode structure in order to increase the active area as well as detector sensitivity. Contribution to the detector sensitivity by the photoelectrons is discussed.
