Final installation of the Alice ECR ion source

The ECR ion source Alice, being installed on a high voltage platform, combines the advantages of providing an ion beam without stripping and of accelerating it to a convenient energy for bunching and transport. The platform was designed and built with large space and load specifications. During the installation, the source Alice was provided with x−y−z movements for easy alignment and the extraction electrode was rebuilt; a large lead box was placed around the source for providing a local shielding of X-rays. Source water cooling was improved.
