Particle physics experiments at a linear collider

In order to realize the full physics potential of an e+e− linear collider a high performance detector with excellent capabilities for vertex and track reconstruction and energy measurement will be needed. A possible detector layout is presented and compared with existing collider detectors. It is shown that experimentation at a linear collider requires that special emphasis is put on a detailed understanding and control of beam-induced background.
