Abstract
A novel SCADA system is developed for the 30 MeV H− ion commercial Medical Cyclotron (Model: Cyclone-30) operating at proton beam currents up to 850 μA, at the National Medical Cyclotron, Sydney Australia. Cyclone-30 control system at NMC consists of two PLCs and a PC. The NMC SCADA system is based on a IBM compatible PC and FIX DMACS software package running on Windows 3.1 platform. This system is custom built for the Cyclone-30 at NMC. High-quality graphic screens are designed to suit the cyclotron at NMC keeping up to date with all the system upgrades. This system is designed to completely replace the existing man-machine interface with many new functions. This paper describes the important components of the system including system architecture and software development.
