Heavy quark effective theory and inclusive B decays

I review the use of the Heavy Quark Effective Theory in the computation of total rates and differential kinematic distributions in inclusive semileptonic and radiative B decays. Particular attention is paid to strategies for the extraction of Vcb and Vub.
