Abstract :
Some ways of using a deuterium fuel (spherical targets and cylindrical magnetized targets) are studied as a long and ultimate task for HIF. As a first step in this direction the burning of the magnetized DT targets is analyzed by the insertion in the targets of an initial magnetic field Bz∼105 G. The possibility of experimental verification of the magnetic insulation efficiency is considered for the planned facilities. It is suggested that the deuterium burning can be also verified experimentally via ignition from a DT target with a thermonuclear energy of EDT∼100 MJ. The deuterium fuel was considered in the form of a mixture of D0.9 3He0.1. This set of calculations must be considered only as numerical estimations and must be checked in the future investigations.
