Abstract :
This paper describes a single photon emission tomography installation using high resolution gamma spectroscopy. Its multipurpose design allows direct measurements of the spatial activity distribution on sources of different geometries and tomography projections on fuel rods or pellets irradiated in the zero power critical facility VENUS. Two major constraints originating from the low activity of the samples are the limited number of measurements that can be performed and parasitic transmission through the collimator. This has resulted in the need to further optimise the design of the detector–collimator geometry.
