Abstract :
We propose a laser synchrotron source (LSS) based on Compton backscattering of electron and laser beams in an extended plasma channel. This approach opens new prospects towards high-power monochromatic X-ray and γ sources by utilizing an existing technology of the high-power high-repetition rate gas lasers.
