Abstract :
A solution of 169Yb was absolutely standardized by the 4πβ(PC)–γ[NaI(Tl)] coincidence counting method and the result has been used to obtain direct measurements of gamma-ray emission probabilities with a coaxial HPGe detector. Standard sources covering the energy range from 21 to 1408 keV were employed to obtain the efficiency-energy curve of the germanium detector. The efficiencies obtained by interpolating this curve were used to determine the emission probabilities of γ-rays following the decay of 169Yb. The half-life of 169Yb was also measured with a 4π–γ ionization chamber.
