Abstract :
A new type solar neutron detector has been developed and a few have been installed on several high mountains around the world. Till now, seven solar neutron detectors have been operated for the observation of solar neutrons in association with solar flares. For the purpose of calibrating the detection efficiency of this new type of solar neutron detector, we carried out an accelerator experiment at the Research Center for Nuclear Physics of Osaka University between February 1996 and June 1999. In this paper, we report the detection efficiency obtained by the accelerator experiment and the results are compared with Monte Carlo simulations.
