Abstract :
Simultaneous analysis of: (i) super-allowed Fermi beta-decay; (ii) the lifetime of the neutron; (iii) angular relationships in neutron beta-decay permits the extraction of best values for the operational coupling constants: GV∗/(ℏc)3=(1.15128±0.00046)×10−5 GeV−2; GA∗/(ℏc)3=(1.45969±0.00076)×10−5 GeV−2; (|λ|=1.26788±0.00084). This value for GV∗/(ℏc)3 yields: |Vud|2=0.9512±0.0014 to which corresponds |Vud|2+|Vus|2+|Vub|2=1.0005±0.0017. Assuming CKM unitarity: the mean charge of the nucleonʹs fermionic fields is Q̄=0.17±0.06; the scalar coupling constant is bF=(0.0±1.4)×10−3 viz. |bF|<2.6×10−3 at 90% C.L.
