Abstract :
We used liquid helium-3 as a neutron converter in a cryogenic neutron detector comprising an InSb semiconductor detector. The InSb semiconductor detector was operated at 1.6 K and it detected protons created in the nuclear reaction 3He+n→p+T in liquid helium-3, the density of which is approximately 600 times higher than that of gaseous helium-3 at room temperature.
