Abstract
The AMH EOS has been extended to systems containing any number of alcohols and inert compounds. For these mixtures, the infinite equilibria model is approximated for the self-association and the cross-association. The equation is applied to calculate the vapor–liquid equilibria and excess enthalpies of binary alcohol–alcohol systems simultaneously. For the vapor–liquid equilibria of these binary systems, results compare favorably with those obtained from Wilson equation. For the excess enthalpies of 25 binary alcohol–alcohol systems, the mean relative deviation of the 31 sets of data is 3.76%. Ternary vapor–liquid equilibria are accurately predicted from binary data. For alcohol–alcohol binary mixtures, vapor–liquid equilibria are fairly well predicted without any adjustable parameters.
