Effective Factors on Successful Implementation of Knowledge Management in Higher Education

Knowledge management has a significant effect on the competitive performance in todayʹs organizations, especially in higher education. In this paper, we have investigated the effective elements on successful implementation of knowledge management in a higher education system. Effective elements on the application of knowledge management are categorized into four main groups of management, cultural, organizational, and technical. The effects of each group are evaluated in Azad University in Iran through a questionnaire by applying Nonaka and Takeuchiʹs model, while the focus was on the knowledge creation and transformation phases. According to the result, three factors of management, organizational and cultural have inappropriate status while the technical factor (i.e. infrastructure) has an appropriate status in the case study. Finally, we provide suggestions to improve the factors that influence knowledge management at the university.
