Abstract :
Differences in constant structure creep behaviour of pure aluminum and Al-5.5wt.%Mg and Al-14wt.%Zn solid solutions, i.e. typical représentants of metal class M and solid solution class A creep behaviour, were investigated by means of an analysis of the immediate strain rate response to sudden applied stress changes performed in the steady-state creep region. Some qualitative conclusions resulting from the investigation are briefly presented indicating a possibility to interpret the different behaviour in aluminum and solid solution by activity of one or two deformation mechanisms, respectively.
