Abstract
Alloys containing between 20 and 50 at.% and up to 15 at.% of Ti, V, Cr, or Co were prepared in ribbon form by chill-block melt-spinning. The effects of these alloying elements on the A2/B2/D03 transition temperatures were determined by DTA. Microstructures of both as spun and heat treated ribbons were characterised using optical, TEM, SEM and XRD. Antiphase domain sizes and morphologies are reported, and correlations between such ordering phenomena, vacancy concentrations, ternary phase precipitations and mechanical properties (microhardness and bend ductilities at ambient temperature) are discussed.
