Abstract :
The semi-solid oxidation and deformation behavior over 990 °C of Ti14, being a Ti–Al–Cu–Si system (with Cu content greater than 10 wt.%), burn resistant alloy were investigated. The results indicate that the weight gain increases obviously with increasing the semi-solid oxidation temperature. Only Ti oxides are found in the surface oxidation layer instead of Cu oxides. The melting grain boundaries are the selective diffusion path for oxygen into the matrices. During Ti14 alloy semi-solid deformation, Ti2Cu melting phases within grains and on grain boundaries grow to form coarse grain boundaries and network structures.
