Abstract :
Nanometre-sized (7 nm) crystallites of ceria were prepared by a hydrothermal technique using ethanol as the solvent at 130 °C. X-ray diffraction confirmed the cubic phase of ceria with fluorite structure. Transmission electron microscopy analysis revealed spherical particles having a narrow size distribution. IR and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses indicated no detectable absorbed water or ethanol or NO3− ions.
