Abstract :
An ESR study of polyemeraldine salt (ES) formation in water-acid solution was carried out. ES can be prepared as a precipitate or a soluble form by oxidation of aniline in water medium containing sulfonic acid with long chain substituent at various acid/aniline ratios [1]. In all cases in the absence of oxygen the process of polymerization is accompanied by increasing of intensity and decreasing of peak-to-peak linewidth of ESR signal with formation >95 % Lorentzian signal. Obtained results allow to assume that linewidth of ES ESR signal in the absence of oxygen is determined by intramoleclar spin-exchange narrowing.
