Abstract
The electrical conductivity of stretched amorphous ES film was measured in the direction of parallel and perpendicular to the chain direction. The electrical conductivity of the unstretched film was 27 S cm−1 while the σ1 and σ1 were 92 and 20 S cm−1, respectively, for a specimen of elongation ratio 273%. The σ∥ and σ⊥ values tend to approach saturation values at higher eleongation ratio, the ultimate anisotropy being 4.6. The UV-visible spectra of stretched ES film at various polarization angles indicates that the amorphous ES film is metallic only in the chain direction, i.e. the the indivisual chains of ES are one-dimensional metal. This result is supportive of the single conducting chain models of amorphous ES film.
