Abstract
Indole, C8NH7, can be polymerized in selected oxidizing solutions such as FeCl3, CuCl2 or KIO3 dissolved in acetonitrile, CH3CN. The polymerization can also occur in FeCl3 solution of CH3NO2, CH2Cl2, C6H5OH, C2H5OH and CH3OH. Doped polyindole is obtained in the form of an air stable conducting powder, green in colour. The influence of the experimental synthesis conditions on the values of the electrical conductivity and on the morphology of polyindole is discussed.
