Abstract :
Conducting polymer/liquid crystal systems are prepared by casting the solution of common solvent. Soluble conducting polymers such as poly(3-alkylthiophene) and poly(9,9-dialkylfluorene) and ferroelectric liquid crystals are used in this study. The structure of the system observed by a microscope is strongly dependent on the concentration of liquid crystal and molecular structures of conducting polymer and liquid crystals. Electrical properties such as dielectric response and optical properties are strongly dependent on the concentration of liquid crystal and correlated with the structure of the system. Electro-optic and doping effects characteristic to these conducting polymer-liquid crystal system are also clarified.
